Jeanne Jugan Aged Care Group
CEO’s, pastoral care leaders and other representatives from Catholic aged care providers in Victoria gathered at CSSV on 30April 2009 to share issues and views on the provision of pastoral care – the diversity within the sector ensures that there is a wide range of practice and of issues, but participants also had much in common.  Catholic Health Australia, Health Care Chaplaincy Victoria Inc. and others added their perspectives, and identified resources that are available.

The group was keen to maintain contact and to take further some of the issues discussed.  The attached summary report provides further details on that gathering, and on the resulting special interest group, the Jeanne Jugan Aged Care Group, named after Blessed Jeanne Jugan, who founded the Little Sisters of the Poor, is to be canonized a Saint on October 11 this year. The attached detailed report includes an outline of the issues discussed, and contact details for those involved.

Please feel free to follow up any aspect of this important issue with Terry O’Shannassy: toshannassy@css.org.au, tel 9287 5570. Feedback, or ideas or proposals for further activities or information provision are most welcome.
