Our News
Catholic Social Services Victoria, in collaboration with Aboriginal Catholic Ministry, engaged Melissa Brickell, a Yorta Yorta Wiradjeri woman, to facilitate an informative and challenging workshop entitled Becoming a Culturally Competent Organisation for CSSV member organisations and other colleagues on Friday morning 7 August 2015.

Peter Hudson led a workshop looking at Social Justice at the Sunraysia Region of the Diocese which gathered on Saturday, July 18th for a day of solidarity, sharing and planning.

Under the guidance and encouragement of Fr Mick McKinnon the Regional Gathering took the title of “The Joy of the Gospel” and the program took the following extract from Pope Francis as a focal point for the day – “It is not by proselytizing that the Church grows, but by ‘attraction’”.

Thanks too to Patricia Faulkner and all who participated in the 2 June 2015 briefing and discussion with Patricia, a member of the Royal Commission into family violence. Click here for a copy of the issues paper from the Royal Commission.  The submission from CSSV to the Royal Commission will be available soon.

Thanks to all who contributed to our Commissioning Mass and Annual General meeting at MacKillop Family Services on 12 March.  Congratulations and thanks to Patrice Scales, who was re-elected as Chair of Council, and to Jan Horsnell, John Blewonski and Cathy Humphrey on their election to Council.

A Professional Development Program over three evenings - 5.30 for 6.00 – 8.30pm, on Wednesdays 25 March, 22 April and 27 May 2015.

Building on the insights of Pope Francis, the Forums will provide a valuable opportunity to reflect deeply on the relationship leaders have with the Gospel and the mission of their own organisation, and its relationship to the broader social services sector.
