Catholic Social Services Victoria is pleased to announce that the fourth series of the Mission Inspired Leadership program will be conducted during 2018.  The dates for the program will be Thursday evenings: 19 April, 17 May, 21 June, 19 July.

Catholic Social Services Victoria's Easter newsletter contains an array of news and upcoming events both from us and from our member organisations including our submission to the 2018 state budget, Catholic Professional Standard's commitment to protecting children in church environments, McAuley Community Services for Women's on tackling loneliness, particularly among women affected by family and domestic violence.
Catholic Social Services Victoria, together with Edmund Rice Ministries and Presentation Sisters, is hosting a practical experience of applying the principles of Catholic social Teaching to promote the flourishing of creation and the building of a more just and compassionate society, with a guided Justice Walk through Melbourne Central Business District on Wednesday 16 May, from 9.30am - 4.30pm.
Pope Francis has challenged all of us with his action plan for Asylum Seekers and Refugees: to Welcome, to Protect, to Promote and to Integrate. Unfortunately Australia’s sad treatment of Asylum Seekers continues, and so once again we find ourselves needing to make a public witness to 'Welcome the Stranger'. On Palm Sunday, 25th March 2018, there will be a Liturgy of Welcome in St Patrick's Cathedral from 1pm – 1.30pm. Following the Liturgy, we will walk as one Faith Community (down Lonsdale street) to join the larger Public Rally, which starts at 2pm at the State Library. Download flyer.

As part of our national Catholic social services conference, Hearing Healing Hope (from 21-23 February in Melbourne), Fr Frank Brennan SJ AO will be hosting a Masterclass on Pope Francis and Human Rights - Moving Justice and Solidarity from the Dictionary to the Workplace of Catholic Social Services. The upcoming national Catholic social services conference, Hearing Healing Hope (21-23 February 2018) aims to provide a space and opportunity for those working or volunteering in Catholic social services, to gather to reflect, discuss and plan the way forward for our for ourselves as individuals, as organisations, and as a sector. Social service organisations are an outstanding example of the Catholic church in action in Australia, however we face many challenges in our quest to respond to the signs of the times, and to be beacons of healing and hope - Friday's series of forums aim to address this question in particular. Participants can choose from a variety of workshops and main forums.
