2015 Knox Public Lecture Treasures Old and New, Catholic Education Fifty Years on from Vatican II

The John Paul II Institute now offers Graduate Certificates and Diplomas in Theology of Psychology and Counselling. The purpose of these new courses is to enable professionals in the fields of psychology and counselling to integrate the perspective of faith in their work. 
An estimated 15,000 people gathered on Palm Sunday, 29 March, to rally in Melbourne for justice for refugees. On 11 February 2015, the Australian Human Rights Commissioner’s (AHRC) National Inquiry into Children in Immigration Detention report was tabled. With that a dark cloud of shame has set over Australia. It is now public knowledge that the Australian Government deliberately detains children in dangerous places that have subsequently led to innumerable cases of mental illness, development delays, sexual assaults and self-harm.

Now there is a way we can all celebrate the organisations and people who work to end homelessness in Victoria.
Nominations are now open for the 2015 Victorian Homelessness Achievement Awards.
On Social Justice Sunday, 15 February, Parishes are asked to reflect on their own response to the Gospel call to compassionate, loving service; and also on the service being carried out by Church agencies on behalf of the Church as a whole.
Each year the Catholic Church marks 1 January as a World Day of Peace, and each year the Pope issues a major statement to help build peace in the world. Pope Francis’ statement for 2015, No longer slaves, but brothers and sisters, focuses on slavery.

‘God is in the detail: Making architecture and art for Catholic Worship’ - Australian Catholic University, Melbourne

The National Liturgical Architecture and Art Board and Australian Catholic University are hosting this symposium on the church/chapel design process next month. The symposium is intended for all who may be involved in designing a new church/chapel or renovating an existing church/chapel, and for anyone interested in architecture and art for Catholic worship: clergy, parishioners, architects, artists, teachers, liturgists, designers, students of theology or architecture, academics, anyone interested in Catholic places of worship.
