The former President of Kiribati, Anote Tong is one of leading voices in
climate change. He is renowned for building awareness of the devastating
impacts of climate change on the Pacific and the need for stronger action from
the international community.
With his home country among the most vulnerable to the impacts of
climate change, he has campaigned for developed nations to step up their
commitments and was instrumental in securing the Paris Agreement in 2015.
He will be in Melbourne for an evening to discuss the challenges facing
Kiribati and his vision for a more just and sustainable future.
It will be on Monday 22 October 2018 at the University
