Russell Broadbent to launch Good Shepherd research project

Federal MP Russell Broadbent who has been such a strong advocate for refugees will launch a new book by Tony Ward in Melbourne on Thursday 21 September highlighting the financial, health and other costs of mandatory detention of asylum seekers, and what we could be doing instead. Titled, Bridging Troubled Wates: Australia & Asylum Seekers, the publication is very timely with critical refugee issues coming to a head (the closure of Manus Island centre, the withdrawal of support for medical transferees to Australia).
Peter Martin has already run an article on the report in the Fairfax Media on 31 August. Click here to view the article.

The book launch will be held at the Multicultural Hub, 506 Elizabeth St., Melbourne, near the Queen Victoria Market, from 5.30pm for a prompt start at 6pm. The official proceedings will conclude by 7pm, with drinks, coffee and tea available afterwards.
All welcome!
