Domestic Violence
Catholic Parishes Serving the Community July Update

Our July edition of Catholic Parishes Serving the Community newsletter highlights that 1 in 5 parishes across the Archdiocese of Melbourne is providing housing at low cost in their local community as part of their response to the Gospel mission to assist the poor, disadvantaged and marginalised. A recent report by Catholic Social Services Victoria highlighted that 42 parishes and four religious orders are providing housing at low cost for approximately 404 people in 201 dwellings. This good news should be celebrated. Our hope is that all within the Catholic Church are inspired by this current work to do what they can to share the resources available to them.

This newsletter aims to highlight events and news of interest to Catholic parishes and social services agencies. It highlights the ways in which our parishes are assisting, or can further assist the pressing needs of refugees and people seeking asylum, and the ways in which parishes can assist people impacted by domestic and family violence.
