Expressions of Interest open for Non-executive Director at St Mary's House of Welcome

St Mary's House of Welcome is seeking expressions of interest for a skills-based non-executive director who embodies the strong values of The House of Welcome to join its Board of Directors. It currently has one independent vacancy, with applications being sought from appropriately experienced people who have a genuine interest and commitment to the vision and purpose of SMHOW, an excellent understanding of good governance in the context of commercial or not-for-profit enterprise, and able to lead organisational growth. 

It is hoped that applicants will be able to apply their skills and experience by contributing to the mission and strategic direction of SMHOW, a leading organisation dedicated to delivering services that improve the social wellbeing of people experiencing homelessness and psychosocial disability. The applicant should be aligned to SMHOW's mission to further social justice with disadvantaged people offering solutions, support and hope.

St. Mary’s House of Welcome Board is comprised of a diverse and comprehensive mix of competencies and perspectives. In looking for an additional Board Director, SMHOW is looking for a person who embodies the strong values of SMHOW, and is particularly looking at: 

  • Cultural diversity
  • Experience and knowledge of the homelessness, mental health or
    substance use field;
  • Non-executive director and corporate governance experience; and
  • Key skills in finance and risk governance.

Each Board Director is required to attend monthly board meetings and contribute to the development of SMHOW's strategic planning, governance, risk, financial and operational models of service delivery.
