Australia Day 2020 awards recipients

Congratulations to our friends and colleagues who were recognised, among hundreds, in the 2020 Australia Day honours list: Jocelyn Bignold, CEO of McAuley Community Services for Women and Catholic Social Services Victoria Council member; Dr Anne Astin, another of our Council members; Sr Monica Cavanagh rsj, Congregational Leader of the Sisters of St Joseph and former President of Catholic Religious Australia; and Jesuit Social Services' Paul Stewart. 
Jocelyn Bignold received a medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the general division for service to the community through social welfare organisations. Jocelyn has been the CEO of McAuley since 2008 and a CSSV council member since 2017.

Anne received a Member (AM) in the general division of the Order of Australia for significant service to the dairy industry, and to food safety regulations. Anne has been a CSSV council member since 2016.

Sr Monica Cavanagh rsj received the medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to the Catholic Church. Monica was professed to the Sisters of St Joseph in 1973. She was President of Catholic Religious Australia (2018-2019) and on its COuncil from 2014-2019. She has been the Congregational Leader since 2013.

Jesuit Social Services staff member, Paul Stewart, received an Order of Australia (OAM) medal for his services to the community and the performing arts. In addition to his work with Jesuit Social Services’ Artful Dodgers Studios and Just Voices Speakers Program, where he mentors young people and supports them to share their stories publicly, Paul has worked with the Alma Nuns in Timor Leste for the past decade.
