Forum for Parishes - Pope Francis' Laudato Si': Transforming Communities - Saturday 15 September 2018 - 9am - 1pm
In 2015, Pope Francis wrote “an urgent letter” to “everyone on the planet” to express his concern for the devastation that humans are causing to our Earth and its climate, and to ask all people to change the way we treat the Earth, each other and the poor. How are you and your parish responding to the Pope’s urgent request?
The Season of Creation is celebrated widely by Christians around the world from 1 September to 4 October, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, as a time of prayer and action to protect creation. What better way to celebrate this Season than to join keynote speakers Pat Long and Bernadette Keating, clergy and other parishioners in exploring how parishes can respond to the Pope’s letter and improve our care for our common home, the Earth?
Pat Long and Bernadette Keating are experienced educators and speakers on ecological awareness. They will take us on a helicopter journey through Laudato Si’ and an examination of how parishes can use Laudato Si’ to transform the lives of their members and communities. The forum will also establish a network of parishes implementing Laudato Si’ and supporting each other.
What resources are available, how can parishes help each other in responding to the Pope's call? Come as a team from your Parish. Download Flyer and program for the day here.
