Workplace spirituality and prayer – a workshop for Catholic social services

Spirituality in the workplace is expressed in many different ways, and prayer can play a variety of roles within a Catholic social service organisation.

Last year we shared a paper ‘Nourishing Solidarity: Celebrating the Eucharist in a social services environment’.  This arose from a workshop on the same theme, and from discussion in our Mission Leaders network and our Catholic Ethos and Identity Committee.  The aim of the paper was to engage readers, particularly those involved in Catholic social services, in the challenge:

Celebrating the Eucharist is a way of entering into Jesus’ challenge to be transformed, like him, to a qualitatively different and new kind of life. This is a challenge to the community to be changed ourselves as well as to be transformers of the world in which we live.
As a follow up, you are invited to a workshop that will discuss more broadly the challenge of our engagement with spirituality and prayer in the workplace.  Fr John Petrulis (pictured) of Sacred Heart Mission and AnnMaree Sutton from Corpus Christi Community will open discussion, and we’re confident that there will be much wisdom to be shared.
