Executive Officer needed for Multi-faith Prison Chaplaincy
Multi-faith Prison Chaplaincy Leaders Group is looking for a new Executive Officer. This is a casual position, reporting to the Chair or the Chair’s nominee).
The Multi Faith Prison Chaplaincy Leaders Group exists to promote the sustainability and service development of the prison chaplaincy service in Victoria and to represent the interests of each faith community supporting chaplains within Victoria’s public and private prisons in their relations with the Department of Justice, Corrections Victoria (CV), GEO Group - Ravenhall & Fulham Correctional Centres and G4S - Port Phillip Prison. The faith groups are the Anglican Church, the Buddhist Council of Victoria, the Catholic Church, the Greek Orthodox Church, the Islamic Council of Victoria, Jewish Chaplaincy Victoria, The Salvation Army and the Uniting Church in Australia.
The Leaders Group meets as required (but at least three times per year) to discuss matters relating to prison chaplaincy service provision.
The Executive Officer is responsible for identifying relevant issues, including budget and service development proposals, and for reporting to the Leaders Group to determine action. In addition to supporting the Leaders Group, the Executive Officer liaises with the Convenor of the Chaplains’ Advisory Committee (CAC) and Senior Chaplains regarding issues relevant to both groups. The Executive Officer attends meetings of the CAC and the prison authorities (Corrections Victoria, Fulham & Ravenhall Correctional Centres and Port Phillip Prison).
