2018 Year of Youth
The ‘Year of Youth 2018 in Your Parish’ program was conducted last Saturday 21 October by the Archdiocesan Office for Youth (AOY). The Year of Youth is to be focused on local renewal and engagement to a set of resources, which were presented to the 100 plus people who attended the day. These resources consisted of a detailed resource book and a range of presentations and workshops by expert personnel. A Melbourne Framework was presented which consisted of five focus areas to live out discipleship with joy and is inspired by Mary.
The five areas are:
1 Dec 2017 – Jan 2018 Good News with joy
2 Feb – April 2018 Joy in service
3 May – July 2018 Joy of families
4 Aug – Sep 2018 Dialogue bringing joy
5 Oct – Nov2018 Joy in discernment
The first aim identified for the Year of Youth by the Australian bishops refers to the document ‘Anointed and Sent’
. This document provides a vision for ministry with young people aged 12 – 30 in the Catholic Church Australia.
The day was well attended by a range of clergy, religious and parishioners who are keen and challenged to find ways to engage youth in our Church in this focus year and beyond.
