Parishes as Centres of Service - Expo in Montmorency - 6 May 2017
Following the success of our inaugural
Parish Services Expo held last year in Cheltenham
, Catholic Social Services Victoria invites you to participate in, and attend its second expo at St Francis Xavier parish in Montmorency on Saturday 6 May 2017.
Held between 10am and 1.30 pm (registration from 9.30am), the expo provides an opportunity for all gathered to showcase their services and to interact with each other. It provides a firm focus on how parishes can work locally and together to build the Kingdom of God here in Melbourne. Further expos will be held in Melbourne's east and west.
Talking of last year's expo, Executive Director of Catholic Social Services Denis Fitzgerald said, ‘The aim of the gathering is to give us inspiration and to enable us to see how things are done so that we can reflect on that and build on our own circumstances. It’s re-imagining how we can do things, learning from others, from parishes like ourselves, and seeing how we can better respond to the Gospel call to help those in need.
‘This gathering has deepened my appreciation of the richness, enthusiasm and innovation that is out there in parishes. It has strengthened my resolve to work with colleagues to try and spread that further. The spirit of generosity is fantastic—to have people prepared to come on a Saturday to share their insights and experiences with others, to help grow the mission, to deepen our engagement with the mission of parishes being centres of service has been invaluable.'
The expo is for parishioners keen to make a difference, Pastoral Associates, Parish Council members, Parish Priests and community groups and organisations affiliated with the parish and social services.
