Community organisations call on Melbourne City Councillors to reject homeless laws
In response to public commentary on the proposal going to a City of Melbourne Council meeting tonight, Tuesday 7 February, to amend laws relating to rough sleeping in the City of Melbourne, the Council to Homeless Persons is working to oppose the proposed reforms and has developed a statement with homeless agencies expressing its concern.
Responding to Domestic Violence - Parish Resource Kit
Following the call of Victorian Bishops, Catholic Social Services Victoria has developed a resource kit for parishes in order to help them better respond to domestic and family violence. The resource kits
are being distributed to every parish in Victoria, plus leading social services organisations and include a variety of important resources, which can be found on this page.
St Josephine Bakhita; An Inspiration in the Fight Against Human Trafficking
Pope Francis has designated the Feast of St Josephine Bakhita, which falls on 8 February, as the World Day of Prayer, Reflection and Action Against Human Trafficking. Theme of this year’s Feast Day celebrations, which are likely to be celebrated at Masses on the weekend of February 11 and 12, is:
