Fr. Daniel O’Leary speaks of the resurrection of the Lord like this:  Just as Jesus embraced his darkness and in so doing, became the Light of the World, we too are invited to believe that this transformation is ours for the asking. Because he freely accepted his death, and all the previous little deaths of his life, in a willing sacrifice, but not without much struggle, doubt and effort, an explosion of healing light and love reverberated around the world.

Catholic Social Services Victoria has urged the Andrews Government to ensure sustainable community services for many years to come through the development of well-articulated policy objectives and adequate resourcing. In a pre-budget submission to Treasurer Tim Pallas, Catholic social services called on the Government to adopt a budget strategy that would address the needs of those who are most vulnerable. Fund priority needs across the social services sector, recommit to a comprehensive strategy analogous to redress disadvantage.

An estimated 15,000 people gathered on Palm Sunday, 29 March, to rally in Melbourne for justice for refugees. Prior to the rally, some gathered at St Patrick's Cathedral for a Prayer Service in Solidarity with Refugees and Asylum Seekers.  Click here for an account of the rally, and Fr Bruce Duncan's homily at the Cathedral.
