Catholic bishops condemn victimisation ofacbc site title women in detention and offer support for Abyan and other refugees who are pregnant in difficult circumstances.

On Friday 9 October, the Episcopal Vicar for Social Services, Bishop Vincent Long, through CSSV convened a meeting of various Catholic Church leaders in Victoria to discuss the planned arrival of 12,000 additional refugees from Syria.

Eighty eight people from 28  parishes, including representatives from Ballarat Diocese, Baptcare, the Church of England, Lentara, Focolare Movement, St Vincent de Paul Society, CatholicCare Melbourne and Catholic Alliance for People Seeking Asylum (CAPSA) came together at St Ambrose's Community Centre, Brunswick, to hear from three inspirational speakers and to share their ideas, experiences and hopes for future action by their parishes in support of asylum seekers.

Congratulations to all at Corpus Christi Community Greenvale on their 40th anniversary, and to all who have been involved over the years.  Their re-building program promises more decades of building a home where all can feel welcome.
